With an energetic stroke of the brush Konopa shows an episode during during the occupation-campaign of the Austro-Hungarian Army in the ottoman provinces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1878. Rudolf Konopa studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and was a co-founder of the Hagenbund in 1900. Konopa received many awards, amongst others the gold medal of the Vienna Künstlerhaus. Later during World War I he became member of the so called k.u.k. Kriegspressequartier (art-section of the ministry of War) and worked as a war-painter at the eastern and southern front.
