At the congress of Vienna 29 September 1814 till 9 June 1815 Austria fully restored its position as one of the great powers in Europe. It renunciated the former Austrian territories in the Netherlands and in South Germany and regained a number of North Italian possessions. The kingdom of Lombardo Venetia together with smaller North Italian territorries as Tuscany, Modena, Piacenza, Parma and Guastalla, which came under Habsburg Archidukes confirmed the Austrian Predominance in Northern and Central Italy.
